   pure HTML, a better way would be to use AJAX.

   You can do this by anchoring the position on the page.
   For example: This Spot
   you would then put #test at the end of the URI.
   Please keep in mind that by using the anchor, you will cause its text to conform to any kind of style that you may have for your links.
   I counteract this by giving my anchor a class which has been setup to look like plain text. Example: This Spot
   You can also do it by simply putting the style in the anchor tag.
